Whether you're the type of person who travels the country following the latest tour of your favorite band or you just like to have some energetic music to exercise to in the gym at your Toronto condo, everyone has some sort of connection to music. And if you're interested in taking in a live show in the Halifax area there are lots of venues and styles of music to choose from. Here are some tips for finding the concert of your choice and getting tickets.
If you're looking for a large event, like the Canadian tour of a top 40 group or an act that has been famous for decades, than you will likely find them playing venues like Metro Centre or Dalhousie Arts Centre. These are the largest concert halls in the area and feature musical acts as well as musical theatre and stage performances. If you're traveling from Edmonton houses during the holiday season than you may wish to catch one of Canada's favorite artists, Rita McNeil or could attend a show in the summer of the best acts featured on your car radio. The Schooner Showroom at Casino Nova Scotia also features many well-known acts from Tom Cochrane to Kenny Rogers.
For those that are interested in a little more of a refined evening of music, the home of Symphony Nova Scotia is the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. There are also several classical, vocal, and instrumental concerts throughout the years that feature artists of all styles at Lillian Piercey Concert Hall and several churches throughout the city. Students travel from Cape Breton to Etobicoke homes to attend the music program at Dalhousie University, so you will find several classical concerts there throughout the school year as well.
You can't go to Halifax without experiencing a little native down East sound. Celtic music is a big part of the culture of Nova Scotia and there are lots of chances to enjoy its charms whether you're visiting Halifax for the night or are looking for a weekly hangout spot. Several pubs, like the Shore Club and Durty Nelly's, have live bands throughout the week and there are many Celtic festivals and events at different times of the year. If you're from Windsor homes than you may as well learn a proper jig while you're down in Nova Scotia.
This is a diverse city with a rich culture and there are so many different styles of music that you can enjoy. If you're coming in from Cornell Markham or Ottawa and are looking for something to experience while you're here than you should check out the events page of the Halifax Info website. This features hundreds of events including opera, children's theatre, and jazz festivals.
